Terms of Use
The short version
- Kelpie keeps a record of your spending. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
- Kelpie is not a bank and is not affiliated with or endorsed by DBS or any other bank.
- Figures in Kelpie can be wrong. Always check against your bank's official records.
- You are responsible for your own financial decisions.
- You can export your transactions and delete your Kelpie data from inside the app.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply to the website at kelpie.site, the waitlist, and the Kelpie app, including its beta ("Kelpie"). Kelpie is run by an individual developer based in Singapore ("we", "us"). By joining the waitlist or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Kelpie.
2. Who can use Kelpie
You must be 18 or older. You must use Kelpie only for your own personal finances, and you must have the right to share any information you give it, including bank alert emails you forward to it. The app asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older when you first sign in.
3. Not financial advice
Kelpie is a tool for information and record-keeping only. Nothing in Kelpie, including balances, budgets, projections, categories and anything written by an AI feature, is financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or do anything. Talk to a qualified professional before making financial decisions. You alone are responsible for the decisions you make.
4. Not your bank
Kelpie is not a bank, payment service or financial adviser, and it never moves money. Kelpie is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by DBS Bank, POSB or any other bank or payment provider. Their names are used only to describe which alerts and statements Kelpie can read.
5. Accuracy of figures
Kelpie builds your records from bank alert emails, statements you import and entries you make. Banks change their email formats, alerts can arrive late or not at all, forwarding can fail or be switched off, and automated reading can misread an amount, merchant or date. Balances and totals shown in Kelpie are calculated from those records and can therefore be incomplete or wrong. Your bank's official statements and app are the authoritative record. Check them before relying on any figure in Kelpie.
6. AI features
AI features are optional and can produce answers that are wrong, incomplete or out of date. Treat them as a starting point, not a fact. If you use AI features with your own AI provider key, you are responsible for that key, for any charges from that provider, and for complying with that provider's terms. You can remove your key at any time.
7. The beta
The beta is a test version. It may have bugs, change without notice, lose features, or stop. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee an invite, and the beta is distributed only through Apple TestFlight. We may end the beta or remove access at any time, and we will try to give testers notice first and send them a copy of their data if they ask. Kelpie is free during the beta. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you the price before you are charged, and paid subscriptions bought through the App Store are handled by Apple under its terms.
8. Your responsibilities
- Keep your Apple ID and devices secure.
- Don't try to access other people's data, break or overload Kelpie, reverse engineer it, or use it for anything unlawful.
- Don't forward emails to Kelpie that you have no right to share.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
9. Your data
Your financial records belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Kelpie to you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can export your transactions as a CSV file, or delete your Kelpie data, at any time from the "You" tab in the app. Deletion takes effect after a 7-day grace period in which you can restore your data. You can also email privacy@kelpie.site.
10. Our content
Kelpie's software, design, name and logo belong to us. You may use the app for your personal use while these terms apply, but you may not copy, resell or redistribute it.
11. No warranty
Kelpie is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that Kelpie will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, or that it will meet your needs.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from financial decisions made using Kelpie, from inaccurate or missing figures, or from AI output. Our total liability to you for any claim about Kelpie is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Kelpie in the 12 months before the claim and SGD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Apple
If you get the app through the App Store or TestFlight, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Kelpie or its support.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for material changes we will tell waitlist members and testers before they take effect. If you keep using Kelpie after that, you accept the new terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
